Principal's Message
Greeting Parents,
Happy New Year and welcome back! Thank you in advance for all your time participating in the Public School Choice process. We will know the outcome of your vote during the next month. We are heading into the second semester and it is time for us to focus on excelling on the California Standardize Test (CST). Last school year John Muir did not meet its testing goal but with your help, this year we are prepared to exceed our goal for 2010-2011. We have included a schedule of activities that you can help us with that will help your child do well on the CST.
Also your child’s health and safety is important to all of us here at John Muir Middle school and this is why I want you to insist that your child follow our school motto for this year that is to: “Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible”. It is of great importance to your child’s success in school to do the following:
Attend school everyday.
Arrive at school on time everyday prepared to learn (7: 30 a.m. is great).
Bring school supplies to school in a backpack (pencil, paper, books).
Eat a good breakfast every morning before arriving to school.
Listen to the teachers and ask question when you do not understand.
Wear the school uniform to school everyday (Black pants (no jeans), White, Gray, or Burgundy collared shirt). Wearing the school uniform cuts down on distractions in the classroom and on the schoolyard and children can concentrate on learning and playing in a safe learning environment.
Come to school with an open mind and good attitude. Parents please review all of the activities that are taking place this month and know that your participation is welcome. You can come in or call the school to find out more about the CST activities. Again, thank you for your support and for trusting me with your child education. I encourage you to support us as we teach your child to become critical thinkers and learning for the 21st Century. I am committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment where all children can grow and develop to their fullest potential.
Respectfully,
Miranda Ra’oof
